Services

At the Speech, Language & Literacy Centre we provide comprehensive assessment, therapeutic and consultative services to children with delays in speech, language and/or learning to read.

Out-reach services are available to consult with and provide professional development to school divisions and other organizations seeking information regarding speech, language and/or learning to read and write.

Services range from individual supports and parent training to school supports either in person or through remote access.

Our Speech Language Services

We offer comprehensive services, including individual support, school-based programs, and dedicated Indigenous services. Our family supports include FSCD assistance, and we’re committed to fostering growth through professional development and mentorship, aligning with future life goals.

  • Specialized training in the area of severe speech disorders including advanced practice training for treating and diagnosing Childhood Apraxia of Speech and other speech-motor learning disorders.

  • Our services include assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for delays and disorders related to language comprehension (receptive language) and language expression (expressive language).

    This encompasses areas such as augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), vocabulary, sentence structure, and narrative skills.

    We also evaluate how these language delays may affect a child's literacy development.

  • We offer assessment and intervention for delays and disorders related to language, including receptive and expressive language difficulties, vocabulary, sentence structure, and more.

    Our services also include evaluating the impact of language delays on literacy development.

    We provide support for reading, spelling, and writing challenges, along with prevention strategies through parent and educator training, and consultations for school divisions on implementing evidence-based literacy interventions.

  • Services for children on the Autism Spectrum and other social communication disorders specifically catered to the individual child and family need.

  • Assessment and intervention for young children who stutter. Use of The Lidcombe Program for young children who stutter.
