What is CAS?
CAS is a classification for a speech sound disorder where the primary challenge is a childβs ability to plan and program the movements needed to correctly produce words and sentences due to neurological inefficiencies.
CAS occurs as a congenital disorder (present from birth) and though there may be a known cause, often CAS is idiopathic (cause is unknown).
CAS can occur on its own, but most frequently occurs in combination with other types of speech sound disorders.
