Summer Intensives

Announcing an exciting addition to our offerings this year: Summer intensive programming in collaboration with Woven Blessings Maternal & Pediatric Services and Adventure Awaits Pediatric Services. Join us for an enriching and dynamic summer experience!

What is an Intensive?

Intensive Pediatric Therapy is a customized therapeutic program that emphasizes high frequency and intensity of therapy sessions.  It is focused on providing your child with the support that they need to meet their specific needs and goals.

Intensive Therapy differs from traditional forms of therapy by increasing the frequency and intensity of children’s therapy sessions. Drawing from a wide variety of treatments such as occupational, speech, and physical therapy, the Intensive Therapy Model ensures that every child receives a combination of intensive therapies that are specifically tailored to the unique physical and intellectual challenges that are posed by neurological disorders.

Short-term blocks of therapy using an intensive model have shown to accelerate progress of the targeted skill (speech, language, literacy, AAC)

Partnership with PT and OT allows for expansion/development of (strength, balance, independence, functional mobility, etc)

Who is it for?

  • Children ages 0-18

  • Intensive therapy has been shown to be beneficial for a variety of children including those with underlying neuromuscular diagnosis such childhood apraxia of speech, cerebral palsy, developmental delays, genetic syndromes and more.

  • Intensive programming aligns with research evidence supporting the development of motor plans - this is why intensive programming is suited for children with Childhood Apraxia of Speech!

What to Expect:

  • SLLC is offering mini-intensive programming this summer. Mini-intensives can be 1-3 week long blocks

  • Each treatment session will be 1 hour and up to 2 sessions each day per discipline.

  • A single discipline or multidisciplinary team (SLP, OT, PT, Beh) approach will be used according to each child’s individual goals

  • We value family/caregiver involvement as part of the team and will provide active coaching as well as home program information at the completion of the intensive that can be continued into the home environment.

  • Intensives come with an initial consult of 30 minutes with one of our therapists to learn more about the child and what their goals are

Our intensive SLPs (aka Super Loveable People) have extensive knowledge, training, and experience treating children with motor speech disorders including Childhood Apraxia of Speech and Dysarthria, delayed language and communication skills, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) users.

Our collaborative physical therapist partners have over 20+ years of pediatric experience and have knowledge and specific training in neurodevelopmental techniques, dynamic movement intervention, strength and conditioning, body weight supported treadmill training, bike riding and more!

Who Are We?

Our collaborative Occupational Therapist partners have over 30 years combined knowledge and experience supporting children with sensory needs, fine motor challenges, executive function skills, self-help skills and social-emotional regulation support.

We are passionate about helping kids achieve their goals to improve their active participation in their lives. Learning happens when children are engaged and having fun, so it is our goal to find what is fun for your child and incorporate it into our sessions.
